Microsoft Security Patch Release September 2010 Advance Notification
Microsoft have released their Advance Notification for the September round of security bulletins they expect to release.
Nine bulletins are scheduled for release, seven dealing with remote code execution vulnerabilities, and two with elevation of privilege vulnerabilities. Four of the remote code execution bulletins will be rated Critical and will target Windows and Office product lines. The remaining bulletins, all listed as Important, will target the Windows product line. Advice from the Microsoft Security Response Center identifies that an unidentified IIS vulnerability will be addressed by one of the Windows security bulletins.
As with previous bulletin releases, not all bulletins will apply to the full product line, and severity of the vulnerability effects varies from product to product, with more recent versions receiving the update, but being less susceptible to the vulnerability (thus receiving a lower rating overall).
