Microsoft is to release an out-of-cycle patch for the Critical Internet Explorer vulnerability that was discovered by way of 0-day attacks after December's patch release. The patch is due for release on Wednesday, December 17, and will be available through the normal channels.

Since the initial discovery of the issue, it has been discovered that all supported versions of Internet Explorer (5.01 and later) may be vulnerable to the flaw, though the main target has been Internet Explorer 7.

Microsoft's description of the vulnerability can be found here, and their advance notification details can be found here.
