Microsoft August 2007 Security Patch Advance Notification
With the Thursday before the second Tuesday of the month having just gone, Microsoft have released information about the Security patches that they are expecting to release next Tuesday.
With August's release, Microsoft are planning on releasing nine security bulletins. Six of the bulletins will be for various components of Microsoft Windows, with a maximum security rating of Critical. One bulletin will be for Microsoft Office and is rated as Critical. Another Critical bulletin affects both Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows, combined, while the final bulletin targets the Virtual PC and Virtual Server product line, and is rated as Important.
Microsoft will also be releasing four non-security high-priority patches alongside the Security patches next Tuesday.
Despite the increased security features associated with Windows Vista, there will still be Three Critical Updates, and two Important Updates for the platform (with others for software running on Vista).
In terms of overall severity, Microsoft have identified that six of the patches are for Critical issues, while the remainder are for Important issues.
