Microsoft August 2007 Security Patch Release
24 hours ago Microsoft released the August batch of Security patches for the Windows Operating System and other important Microsoft software.
As expected, based on the advanced notification, Microsoft released nine patches, which addressed 14 serious vulnerabilities affecting Windows, Office, Virtual PC, and a range of other system components. Although three of the patches were rated by Microsoft as Important, with the remainder Critical, a number of third party observers, such as the ISC, believe that all of the patches represent a Critical patching situation for end users (and Important for servers).
Microsoft Office users on OS X should be aware that Microsoft released a Critical security update for this software, as well.
At this stage there are no significant reports of problems with implementing the Security Patches, though it is expected that exploit code and proof of concept details will be released over coming days to target the vulnerabilities patched.
